Jefferson, Whiteford carry torch for Monroe County Region football.

Jefferson and Whiteford will represent Monroe County Region football after each team advanced from their respective district championship games on Friday, November 6. Jefferson claimed a 43-23 victory over Ida in Division 5, while Whiteford triumphed over St. Mary Catholic Central with a 38-34 win in Division 7. Bedford and Gibraltar Carlson, on the other hand, were eliminated in Division 2.

In Division 5, Jefferson's Hunter Barton secured a pair of touchdowns with 53 and 32-yard passes, while Drake Jones rushed for 169 yards, scored two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions. Luke Beaudrie added 37 yards on a run and threw a 21-yard touchdown to Brayden Birkmier. Ryan Roberts also contributed a pair of touchdown passes after Beaudrie left the game due to a knee injury.

Justin Crozier and Grant Pfeiffer each scored a touchdown for Ida, which finished the season with an 8-3 record. Jefferson, currently 10-1, will host Summit Academy for the regional championship on November 13.

In Division 7, Whiteford edged out St. Mary Catholic Central with a thrilling 38-34 win. Tre Eitniear of Whiteford scored on a quarterback sneak with seconds left and Andy Trejo added a crucial 2-point conversion. Brek Ruddy ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns, while Eitniear amassed 107 rushing yards and connected on 12-of-18 passes for 185 yards.

His 35-yard pass to Maddox Diesing set up the winning score, with George Thompson and Elijah Vance each scoring a touchdown. Deising had a standout performance for SMCC, rushing for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 9 carries and contributing 72 passing yards and a touchdown.
