Integrity must go hand in hand with academic success, Perlis Raja Muda tells UniSIRAJ graduates

Kangar, on November 7, witnessed the 9th UniSIRAJ Convocation Ceremony at Dewan 2020, where graduates were reminded of the importance of integrity and good values in their academic and professional journeys. The Perlis Raja Muda, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who also serves as UniSIRAJ’s Chancellor, emphasized that knowledge alone cannot guarantee success; it must be complemented by strong moral values and principles.

He stressed that in an age of AI and digital advancements, these values must remain at the forefront of graduates’ pursuits. The Raja Muda encouraged graduates to build their careers diligently, fulfill their responsibilities, and utilize their expertise to contribute positively to their organizations and society. He clarified that success should not be measured solely by one’s position, income, or personal achievements, but rather by the benefits they bring to others.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra warned that challenges, failures, and changes are inevitable, and graduates must turn these obstacles into opportunities to learn, rectify weaknesses, and enhance their capabilities. He called for patience, perseverance, and unwavering faith in Allah during such times. The graduates’ actions should always serve a greater good, he added.

At the ceremony, the Raja Muda presented the Chancellor’s Award (Martabat Al-Syaraf Al-Ula) to Maryam Al Adzra Mohd Zawawi, a top-scoring graduate in Hadith from the Faculty of Al-Quran and Sunnah, with a CGPA of 3.95. Among the recipients were 276 others who were awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Diploma degrees.
