Hunger: Hardworking Nigerians should have food — Yari

Abdulaziz Yari, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has stated that hardworking Nigerians should be able to afford food, questioning whether residents have gone to markets without finding food to purchase. The statement came during an APC rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Yari emphasized the availability of food in markets, asking if anyone in Akwa Ibom had taken their money to the market but could not find food. He argued that if there is no food in the market, that is what they call hunger, but anyone who is not lazy should have food on their table. The remarks come amid public concerns over rising food costs and economic hardship, with President Bola Tinubu blaming past leaders for the current economic situation.

Opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, have criticized Tinubu's comments, accusing him of attempting to evade responsibility for the economic hardships facing Nigerians.
