FG cancels 2026 NTI admissions, halts degree programmes

The Federal Government has cancelled all admissions for the 2026 academic session into the National Teachers' Institute's National Certificate in Education and degree programmes due to regulatory breaches. The Federal Ministry of Education directed the institute to discontinue all university affiliations and degree-awarding arrangements, emphasizing that it cannot award NCE or university degrees.

Prospective students, parents and the public are warned against seeking admission into the affected programmes. The ministry stressed that no further admissions into these programmes are permitted, whether full-time, part-time or through Distance Learning Studies. The directive follows violations of Ministerial Operational Guidelines, requiring NCE admissions to comply with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's requirements and accreditation standards of the National Commission for Colleges of Education.

The government aims to protect students already enrolled in existing programmes, particularly those in the NCE II-IV Distance Learning Studies, and the NCCE will conduct accreditation of these programmes to determine which students can complete their studies.
