Enggan ‘serang’ lawan, Yadzil mahu PN menang lebih besar di Bemban

PN's Dr Yadzil Yaakub has acknowledged that Perikatan Nasional needs to make greater efforts to approach voters from various backgrounds, particularly the Chinese community, via direct meetings. The party is targeting a larger victory in the Bemban parliamentary seat during the Melaka PRN on November 14. Dr Yadzil, the candidate, has chosen not to attack or malign her opponent.

She prefers a healthy contest, showcasing her advantages and what she can offer to the people, while respecting each contender's abilities to compete. "I prefer to compete in a healthy manner, highlighting someone's strengths and what I can offer to the people," she stated during a FMT interview at the PN Gerakan office in Bemban.

Yan will face Rabaie Ab Hamid from Bersatu, Dr Solehin Saleh (Bersama) and Abd Halim Said (independent) in the Bemban constituency. Dr Yadzil had won the seat in the 2021 Melaka PRN with a majority of 328 votes.

The former opposition Melaka chief acknowledged that the PN coalition aims to increase the number of seats won compared to the previous election, though the ultimate target remains dependent on campaign developments. She also admitted that PN needs to make direct efforts to approach voters from various backgrounds, especially the Chinese community, through face-to-face meetings and listening to their aspirations.

PN is forming several groups to approach this community, aside from gathering feedback on their hopes for the respective party. Regarding local issues, Yadzil emphasized the need to focus on the development of residential areas in the town and on the outskirts to avoid burdening residents. She also raised concerns about flooding and sanitation, labeling them as recurring issues that require a comprehensive solution.
