Brophy dominates Higley to repeat as 6A Central region champs
No. 8 Brophy's tough schedule helped prepare it for the Nov. 6 game against No. 11 Higley.
Brophy secured a repeat as 6A Central region champions after a hard-fought victory over Higley on November 6, 2026. The Broncos, led by coach Jason Jewell, dominated the visiting Higley team with a final score of 47-29. This win marks Brophy's second consecutive season winning the 6A Central region, a feat they haven't achieved in 12 years.
After a tough loss to Chandler Basha earlier in the season, Jewell was optimistic and focused on the upcoming region championship. Brophy entered the game ranked No. 8 in the AIA/MaxPreps 6A rankings, qualifying them for the 12-team Open Division playoff bracket. Higley, ranked No. 11, aimed to make the Open cut but ultimately fell short.
Senior player Ryder Noche was instrumental in the win, contributing to Brophy's offensive efforts and special teams, including a game-winning 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Broncos' strong season schedule and key performances from Noche and other players solidified their position as region champions.
