Bottas insists he will stay at Cadillac next year

Sao Paulo - Valtteri Bottas, the 37-year-old Finnish driver with 265 Grand Prix victories and 10 wins to his name, has firmly stated that speculation about his impending departure from Cadillac and Formula One is premature. The driver, who recently finished 15th in opening practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, surprised onlookers by asserting he had been unaware of rumors suggesting he would be replaced in 2027 by American Colton Herta.

Bottas, who previously raced for Williams, Mercedes, and Sauber, expressed his surprise at the "noise" surrounding his situation, stating that the team has been content with his performance. Despite the sport's competitive nature, Bottas mentioned that he is under a multi-year contract. He emphasized that his team's first season has been successful, and he has adhered to the team's instructions.

Given the circumstances, Bottas believes it would be unusual for the team to challenge his performance, indicating a likely continuation with Cadillac in the upcoming year. The driver's team-mate Perez has already been confirmed for 2027, with a contract extension granted. Currently, Cadillac occupies the 11th position in the constructors' championship standings without scoring a single point.
