Apple's iPhone Duo now has over 100,000 optimised apps

Dubai: Apple's foldable iPhone Duo has surpassed the 100,000 app mark in its App Store just two weeks after its release. Apple has reported that thousands more optimised apps are being added daily as developers update their software to be compatible with the new phone. The milestone comes after some initial concerns that popular apps were not ready to make full use of the iPhone Duo's larger inner display.

Apple has introduced a "Made for iPhone Duo" badge on its App Store listings to help users identify optimised apps. These optimised apps are designed to utilise both the inner and outer displays of the phone, avoiding any unused space around the content. Despite the impressive milestone, some popular apps like Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Teams, PayPal, and Uber Eats are still in need of optimisation.

Users can still run older apps on the device, though they may not make full use of the larger screen or display any vertical space. Apple has hosted over 2,000 developers in 50 workshops across 19 cities to help them prepare their apps for the foldable device. The iPhone Duo was launched on October 23 with a starting US price of $1,999, which translates to Dh8,499 in the UAE.
