The KT Wiz were forced to endure injuries to two regular players during the third game of the Korean Series on Friday. The Korean Series remains tied at 1-1 between the Wiz and the Samsung Lions, with Game 3 scheduled for Friday evening at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in Daegu. Second baseman Kim Sang-su returned to the lineup after sitting out Game 2 due to a foot injury, but leadoff man and right fielder Choi Won-jun was absent after colliding with the outfield wall while attempting to catch a flyball.
Choi suffered swelling in his left thumb following the incident. The Wiz manager, Lee Kang-chul, revealed that Choi, who batted .400 in the regular season, expected to play but concerns lingered about his ability to defend effectively in his current condition.
