Weezer: Photos From the Billboard Cover Shoot

In a dimly lit, windowless space within Tampa's Benchmark Arena, Rivers Cuomo, the frontman of Weezer, prepares for the band's upcoming performance. Dressed in a baseball cap, he sits in a zero-gravity chair, surrounded by concert paraphernalia including a keyboard, a drum kit, an acoustic guitar, a jar of peanut butter, a setlist, and a bag marked "clarinet books."

This is a stark contrast to the exhilarating performances he delivers later in the night, as he regains his strength after touring the previous day. At precisely 9:12 p.m., the lights will dim for Weezer's headlining set, marking the return to his signature power-pop persona. This routine repeats every night of the Weezer: The Gathering Tour, with the lights going down at the same time and the band concluding their concert at 10:53 p.m. A prerecorded video introduces the show, depicting a kid wishing for Weezer to perform at his house, which is represented on stage with a replica house, yard, and power lines.

Cuomo, addressing the crowd, announces, "Dearly beloved, we’re gathered here tonight, to celebrate a thing called Weezer!" The band launches into their set, a testament to their enduring legacy. As part of the 2026 Billboard Live Music Summit, Weezer will receive the Legend of Live award and participate in an exclusive Q&A session. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the designated link.
