Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur Sees 5 Killed, 17 Injured As Truck Rams Tractor-Trolley Returning From Mundan Ceremony

In Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, a tragic accident occurred on Friday when a truck collided with a tractor-trolley carrying relatives of a family returning from a child's mundan ceremony in Hardoi district. The incident, which took place near Kulhaghat and Himmatnagar village on the Pihani road, resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left 17 others severely injured.

Reports indicate that the family, whose members hailed from Bargawan village, had traveled to Raipur village in Hardoi district to attend the religious rituals for the first hair-cutting of Abhi, son of Harinam. Following the completion of the ceremonies, the family boarded the tractor-trolley to make their way back home. However, their journey was cut short when the speeding truck struck their vehicle from behind, causing the trolley to overturn.

The collision resulted in the overturning of the trolley, trapping several passengers underneath while others were thrown onto the road. As panic ensued in the vicinity, local residents, alongside police personnel, rushed to the scene to provide assistance. Efforts to rescue those trapped beneath the overturned vehicle were initiated, with medical aid extended to the injured at Pisawan and Community Health Centre (CHC) Maholi.

Five victims, including Kajal (10), Sushila (50), Ruby (22), Sunita (40), and another woman whose identity has not been confirmed, succumbed to their injuries. A minimum of 17 individuals sustained injuries, many of whom are reported to be in critical condition. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, focusing on aspects such as the alleged negligence of the truck driver and the sequence of events leading to the tragic accident.
