UP Farmers To Get Up To ₹30,000 Per Hectare For Crop Loss As Govt Revises Disaster Relief

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced significant increases to disaster relief compensation, with farmers potentially receiving up to ₹30,000 per hectare for crop loss. The state's Relief Department anticipates that more than ten lakh farmers will benefit from these revised guidelines, which will be in effect from the financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31.

Under the revised State Disaster Response Fund and National Disaster Response Fund rules, compensation for crop damage has been raised for both irrigated and rain-fed lands. Irrigated areas now receive ₹22,000 per hectare, up from ₹17,000, while rain-fed areas see an increase to ₹11,000 per hectare, from ₹8,500. Compensation for perennial crops and agroforestry has been increased to ₹30,000 per hectare, up from ₹22,500.

The government has also raised assistance for removing deposited silt from agricultural land from ₹18,000 to ₹23,000 per hectare. For large livestock like cows and buffaloes, death compensation has increased from ₹40,000 to ₹50,000. Assistance for smaller animals such as goats, sheep, and pigs has risen from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500. Horses and mules now receive ₹25,400 per animal, a jump from ₹20,000.

Poultry farmers will be compensated at ₹130 per bird, up from the previous ₹100. These enhanced relief measures aim to provide more comprehensive support to farmers affected by natural disasters in the state.
