TVK MLA’s ‘horse trading’ claim: Case registered against former Madurai Deputy Mayor P.M. Mannan

The Jana Sena Party (JSP) is expressing interest in securing the Deputy Mayor position within the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation, following their triumph in six out of ten contested segments during recent elections. Despite fierce competition within the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the JSP remains optimistic about obtaining the prestigious position as a reward for their instrumental support of a major alliance partner.

According to sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which emerged victorious in three divisions, is also vying for the coveted post. Meanwhile, the TDP's Vizianagaram Parliamentary wing coordinator, Gurana Ayyalu, has reportedly approached the post on behalf of his wife, Gurana Radhika, who secured her seat from the 30th division, overcoming tough competition from both the YSRCP and independent candidates.

Alongside Ms. Radhika, Ayyalu met with TDP MLA Aditi Gajapathi Raju in an informal gathering, expressing gratitude to her for the NDA's victory in the crucial civic elections. Ayyalu, who has previously served in various capacities within the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) and has connections to film actor Chiranjeevi and Deputy Chief Minister and JSP president Pawan Kalyan, reportedly communicated the party's contributions to its leadership, detailing the support provided over several years.

TDP sources suggest that numerous senior corporators have also petitioned the party's leadership for the Deputy Mayor post, given that the TDP managed to win 35 out of the 48 contested seats in the elections. BJP representatives assert that their party possesses a considerable voter base, which was instrumental in the TDP successfully claiming the mayoral position in the city.

"The TDP high command will deliberate on a decision after consulting with JSP and BJP leaders," stated a senior party official.
