President Bola Tinubu has spoken fondly of his time working as an auditor for Mobil Oil Nigeria in Akwa Ibom State. Reflecting on his past, he recalled his involvement in various development projects, including the establishment of Ibeno and Eket. "This is a homecoming for me," Tinubu said, noting the inauguration of several projects during his visit to Uyo.
These include the international terminal building at the Victor Attah International Airport, an airport hospital, and the Ibom Aviation Village. Tinubu also highlighted the Airport-Okopedi Road, Ring Road 3, and the AKWA-GIS Office Complex as part of the ongoing initiatives set to benefit the region. The Victor Attah International Airport, previously known as Ibom International Airport, was upgraded to international status in 2025, with the Federal Government taking over its operations.
Tinubu's visit also underscores his ongoing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 general elections, following Governor Umo Eno's recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
