'That's our dude:' Jalani Culpepper finally unleashed on offense, East View makes playoffs
East View rushed for 235 yards and had a suffocating defensive performance to beat Rouse in a Central Texas high school football game Thursday.
Jalani Culpepper showcased his all-around prowess as East View's running back, rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown, making tackles, and blocking a punt in East View's 31-0 victory over Rouse. The game, played at John Gupton Stadium, secured East View's playoff berth in the District 24-6A. Coach Bill Robertson praised Culpepper, calling him "our dude" and emphasizing his importance to the team, which has now made the playoffs for two consecutive years.
Culpepper's performance, along with contributions from Jayvion Clayter, allowed East View to run for 235 yards in the first half. The Patriots also excelled defensively, intercepting three passes and allowing less than 100 yards to Rouse. Coach Robertson expressed pride in his team's improvement, particularly on the defensive line, which limited Rouse to barely more than 2.0 yards per carry.
