Sindiket jual cap imigresen RM70, untung RM15,000 sebulan

A criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for stealing immigration safety caps in Malaysia is believed to have earned up to RM15,000 monthly by selling fake safety caps for between RM70 and RM100 per cap. The syndicate was dismantled after arresting three individuals, including a local man and two Thai women, during a joint operation in Kajang and Pandan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur on November 3.

The syndicate's modus operandi involved falsifying endosseous safety caps issued at the entrance of the Sultan Iskandar Building to evade authorities. It targeted foreigners without proper documentation or those who had lived in the country for an extended period, primarily Thai nationals. Promoting the service via WhatsApp, the syndicate asked customers to send their passports without showing their faces to avoid detection, as some customers might not be aware that the safety caps on their passports were fake.

During the operation, JIM seized two fake endosseous safety caps, one fake endosseous safety certificate, a strip of adhesive on a safety cap, two safety cap dates, five safety cap stamps, six Thai passports, a Thai visa, five mobile phones, two notebooks, and a key to the premises. Two locals and two Thai women, aged between 40 and 45, were questioned under Section 56(1A)(c) and Section 56(1)(l) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, respectively, and taken to immigration offices for further action.
