Selangor henti segera kerja pembangunan di Puncak Alam
Keputusan ini dibuat sementara tunggu pelan mitigasi banjir, impak alam sekitar dinilai semula, kata MB Selangor.
Selangor's Development Work at Puncak Alam to Cease Immediately
Selangor Chief Minister Amirudin Shari has announced that all development work at Puncak Alam will be halted immediately as flood mitigation plans and Environmental Impact Assessment are being reevaluated. Simultaneously, the Batu Arang Road in Rawang will be closed by the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) to create space for repair work.
Amirudin emphasized that flood mitigation measures, both large and small, across the country, especially in high-risk areas, must be accelerated beyond conventional schedules due to the impending daily rain. The state government is aware of the climate crisis and the need to adapt flood mitigation work to the challenges faced in order to prevent any hardship to the public.
The Chief Minister noted that the daily rainfall has caused distress for the public, particularly those commuting to and from work, and taking their children to school. He urged citizens to accept warnings from government agencies openly, with a commitment to doubling efforts to aid those affected by floods and preventing future floods from occurring daily.
Amirudin also announced that the state government will expedite and provide additional assistance to flood victims staying at temporary relocation centers (PPS), while accelerating repairs and cleaning of their homes through state agencies and the MBI Foundation. A financial aid of up to RM1,500 from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the state government will be disbursed to PPS residents to ease their financial burden during this time, alongside repair work.
Early warnings will also be provided to road users in areas prone to rising water levels, while the Water and Sewer Department will carry out drainage redirection work swiftly. All agencies have been given a collective responsibility to ensure the timely and efficient management of drainage canals and rivers.
