Selangor arah semak semula projek, pastikan pelaksanaan mitigasi banjir

Selangor's Chief Minister Amirudin Shari has announced plans to review the development project approved to ensure the implementation of flood mitigation systems in high-risk areas. The move is part of the state government's efforts to reduce flood risks and prevent recurring incidents in vulnerable regions. "I will request a review of all approvals we have given, including mandating the construction of temporary water retention systems, and we don't want them to do it half-heartedly," Amirudin said after visiting the dam reservoir site at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam campus today.

The state government will also identify other issues contributing to flooding in areas such as Johan Setia, Parit Mahang, Bukit Kuching, and Bukit Hijau. These issues include vandalism at the Sungai Buloh 1 River Basin Design (RTB) which has lowered its height below the original specification in some areas besides the outlet from the Peninsular Malaysia East Coast Expressway (WCE).

Amirudin has requested immediate action on the vandalism issue and will take steps against illegal operations there. Some repair processes are mandatory to make the dam reservoir and floodplain elevation maps for the two identified low-lying areas to be carried out by the Local Government and Land Office with local authorities. Regarding a mosque often affected by flooding, Amirudin stated that his office will discuss with mosque authorities whether to raise or relocate it because the affected area is low-lying and receives the overflow from Sungai Subang, Buloh Sarawak, and eventually this region.

This water movement has been happening since the past, flowing from Gombak, Petaling, and some portion to Ijok or Kuala Selangor.
