Samsung Galaxy A18 Now Available For RM1,199

The Samsung Galaxy A18 has recently been announced for availability in the local market, replacing previous mentions of the device on the internet. The announcement of the phone does not provide specific details about 5G support, but does highlight LTE connectivity. In the past, a leak had already given a detailed overview of the Samsung Galaxy A18's features; however, there is a minor variation in the spec sheet for the local version of the device.

Key specifications that remain unchanged from before include a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display, the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, and a 5,000 mAh battery. The rear camera setup also remains the same, featuring a 50MP main camera, 5MP wide-angle lens, and 2MP macro lens. Similarly, the device maintains an IP64 rating and runs on One UI 9.

The only difference in storage options is that the local model only offers 128GB, as opposed to two storage choices mentioned in the spec sheet. The announcement also clarifies that the 6GB of RAM mentioned in the spec sheet is actually part of the "RAM Plus" feature, which is essentially virtual RAM. It is likely that the real figure is 4GB, based on trends observed by other brands.

The device's screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, rather than Victus glass. Interestingly, the Galaxy A18 comes with a 13MP front-facing camera, a new feature. For those purchasing the phone by December 31st, there is a promotional offer available. The price has been increased by RM50 compared to the A17 model, which was recently raised.

However, customers who buy the device within this time frame will receive a RM100 discount, as well as a 25W power adapter worth RM89, which is compatible with the phone's charging rate. It is worth mentioning that Urban Republic has listed a 64GB storage variant, but it is currently unavailable.
