Razer Announces Hammerhead V3 Chroma; More Than Just An RGB Update

Razer has recently unveiled the Hammerhead V3 Chroma, a significant upgrade to the original Hammerhead V3 wireless earbuds. While the wireless iteration received a rainbow lighting feature, the wired variant is the first to bear the Chroma suffix, indicating a more substantial transformation. According to 9to5Google, the Chroma variant will showcase the brand's iconic three snakes logo cycling through colors instead of its traditional green and black hues.

The most notable change in the Razer Hammerhead V3 Chroma is its USB-C connector, a departure from the standard 3.5mm audio plug in the original model. This right-angled connector is designed for better usability during active media consumption or mobile gaming, as it allows for comfortable use while holding the connected phone in landscape view. Moreover, the wireless versions of the original Hammerhead V3 were given a RGB lighting update, but this is the first time wired models receive such a treatment.

Internally, the Razer Hammerhead V3 Chroma boasts several enhancements. The earbuds now feature an 11mm main driver and a 6mm tweeter, replacing the standard 11mm dynamic drivers found in the previous version. Additionally, the Chroma earbuds have an IPX4 waterproof rating, providing some protection against rain – a useful feature as the rainy season approaches. The earbuds also incorporate Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to further enhance the user experience.

On the software front, users can expect the familiar THX Surround Sound 7.1 on PC, in addition to access to four standard and one customizable equalizer setting. Despite these substantial upgrades, the company has opted not to label this iteration as a V4, maintaining the V3 designation for reasons that remain unclear. The Razer Hammerhead V3 Chroma will be priced at RM399 and will be available through select retailers and Razer's official online store.
