Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi revealed that direct flights will commence between Peshawar and Lahore on November 9, aligning with Iqbal Day. The governor disclosed that authorities are restoring the air link in partnership with South Airways. This new service will significantly cut down the travel time from around 50 minutes to an hour.
Initially, the Peshawar–Lahore route will offer four flights per week. The first flight is scheduled to depart from Peshawar to Lahore at approximately 1pm on the launch day.
The governor highlighted that the service would provide a convenient transportation option for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents living in Lahore, including business professionals and employees. He also mentioned that the direct Peshawar–Quetta air service is already thriving. In the future, authorities plan to increase the frequency of flights on the Peshawar–Lahore route.
Kundi further disclosed that they are exploring air connections to Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral, and Parachinar, with the aim of linking various parts of the province through air services.
Additionally, the governor pledged to continue initiatives to restore Peshawar as the "City of Flowers."
