Kastam rampas barang seludup lebih RM2 juta

Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM) Negeri Sembilan has seized a significant amount of contraband during two separate busts on October 26, resulting in a loss of RM2.56 million, including duties. The head of the agency, Jamal Paiman, disclosed that the seized items included 3,008,200 assorted cigarettes, 2,910.64 liters of strong liquor, 221 units of electrical equipment, and a compression machine.

Among the items confiscated were 10,000 lighters with 200,000 assorted cigarettes, which were found in a van Daihatsu parked in the back lane of a shop in Taman Sejahtera, Kuala Lumpur. The estimated value of the cigarettes and the van was RM36,000, with duties of RM138,000. Additionally, 1,370 bottles of various strong liquor, 4,824 tin containers, 244 boxes containing 2,808,200 assorted cigarettes, and 221 electrical equipment were seized during a second raid at a premises in the same area.

According to the police, the contraband was seized under Section 114 of the Customs Act 1967, and the case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) and Section 135(1)(e) of the same act.
