‘Huge compliment’ - Baas flattered by Barca transfer talk

Amsterdam - Ajax defender Youri Baas expressed his delight at hearing about Barcelona's reported interest in his services. Reports have surfaced suggesting that the Catalan giants have added Baas to their list of defensive targets in their quest for reinforcements under Hansi Flick's management. When asked about the rumors after a recent Europa Conference League match against FC Midtjylland, Baas responded enthusiastically, calling it a "huge compliment" and acknowledging it as a "nice" development.

The defender, who is among several others linked with Barcelona, revealed that he had played in midfield on the pitch earlier but starting as a midfielder was a new experience for him. Baas hinted that the opportunity arose due to coach Michel's observation, stating that he looked like a midfielder during the training session. Known primarily as a defender, Baas emphasized his versatility, playing in multiple positions as per the coach's needs. He believes that the ability to play in different roles is beneficial for his overall development.
