Gujarat Energy signs long-term pact with Adnoc to procure 4 million tonnes of LNG
Gujarat Energy will receive up to 4.0 million tonnes of LNG over ten years, starting in 2028. The agreement is ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India
New Delhi - Gujarat Energy and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) have entered into a long-term sales and purchase agreement for up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This marks the first purchase from XRG's international portfolio, which will supply Gujarat Energy over a period of ten years, beginning in 2028.
The agreement is Adnoc's fifth LNG supply deal in India. Avantika Singh Aulakh, managing director at Gujarat Energy, highlighted the importance of natural gas in India's transition to cleaner energy, noting its role in boosting industrial efficiency, providing a safer cooking fuel for households, and accelerating the growth of eco-friendly transportation.
Rashid Al Mazrouei, chief marketing & origination officer (LNG) at Adnoc, emphasized that the partnership reinforces ADNOC's commitment to delivering dependable, long-term LNG supplies. The agreement strengthens Adnoc's global LNG marketing and trading platform, which was launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. This platform has since signed supply agreements with INPEX in Japan and Gulf Group in Thailand, expanding ADNOC's presence in Asia's key LNG markets.
The platform targets 47 mtpa of marketable LNG beyond 2030, positioning ADNOC as one of the world's leading LNG suppliers.
