In a highly anticipated 2026 postseason matchup, undefeated Garfield took on Conneaut High School in a football game. This is the third time in five seasons that the G-Men and Spartans have faced off in the postseason. Both teams have previously met in Week 11 games, with Garfield emerging victorious in both encounters. Last year, the Spartans hosted Garfield at JAG Field, winning 56-13.
Conneaut, coming into the game with a 10-1 record and a postseason berth from the 2025 season, fielded a strong team. Their defense held seven of 10 opponents to 17 points or fewer, led by quarterback Wyant Dobran. Meanwhile, Garfield, the 10-0 victors, boasted a formidable ground game. Tailback Ryder Cain rushed for 1,365 yards and 21 touchdowns, while dual-threat quarterback Collin McGranahan contributed 626 passing yards and nine scores.
The G-Men and Spartans have a rich history in postseason football, having faced each other three times since 2022. Their intense rivalry promises an exciting game, with both teams eager to secure a tournament win. Garfield, making their eighth straight postseason appearance, aims to win at least one game this season, while Conneaut, the Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division runner-up, seeks to advance in their inaugural postseason appearance.
