A vibrant traveling festival, La Pequeña Cuba (Little Cuba) Gastro-Cultural Festival, is bringing a taste of Cuba and classic American cars to the charming Spanish town of La Cala de Mijas. Postponed from its original October schedule due to rain, the four-day event will take place from November 12-15. Organized by Asociacion Cubanos Unidos in partnership with the Mijas Town Hall, the festival aims to infuse the town with a tropical atmosphere and Caribbean culture.
The event, which is open to all, will be held in the car park behind Carrefour Express at the main Boulevard. Ten colorful stalls will showcase traditional crafts and authentic island cuisine, offering visitors the chance to sample genuine island delicacies such as lechon asado (slow-roasted pork), tamales (corn dough steamed in corn husks), and crispy corn fritters. Refreshing mojitos and classic cocktails will keep guests refreshed throughout the event.
Musical performances and DJ sessions will keep the energy high from noon until midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights. The highlight of the festival is the debut of the I Concentracion de Coches Clasicos (1st Classic Car Meet) on Sunday, November 15, when vintage and iconic cars will gather at the Carrefour Express parking area for registration between 10am and 11:30am.
Spectators can then follow the cars as they roar through La Cala at noon, before parking for public exhibition from 1pm onwards.
Whether guests are interested in sipping cocktails to salsa music or admiring classic vintage cars, the festival promises a weekend of community warmth and Caribbean culture in the beautiful Spanish town of La Cala de Mijas.
