CBSE announces 2027 Class 10, 12 board exam dates

India's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revealed the schedule for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, which will commence on February 16. Both sets of exams will begin at 10:30 am. The Class 10 exams are scheduled to conclude on March 9, while the Class 12 assessments will run until April 9. The date sheet was released on November 6, providing students with 101 days to prepare for their exams.

According to the CBSE, over 2.65 million students have registered for the Class 10 examinations, while around 1.98 million students are expected to sit for the Class 12 assessments. The Class 10 exams will cover 83 subjects, while the Class 12 timetable includes 121 subjects. CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that the board released the schedule well ahead of time to give students ample opportunity to plan their preparation.

During the creation of the datesheet, the CBSE considered more than 40,000 subject combinations to prevent students from having exams for two subjects on the same day. The board also ensured sufficient breaks between exams for subjects commonly taken together by Class 10 and Class 12 students. They also took into account the tentative schedules of major entrance examinations for Class 12 students, aiming to complete the board exams before these tests commence.

The number of students expected at each examination center on a given day was also considered to ensure the smooth execution of the exams. The CBSE stated that the timetable had been designed to minimize the time teachers would need to be absent from their schools for answer script evaluation.
