Blackpink’s Jennie and Jisoo to sing for Netflix’s ‘Steps’ and ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Blackpink's Jennie and Jisoo are lending their musical talents to two forthcoming animated films, Netflix's Steps and Paramount Pictures' The Angry Birds Movie 3. According to Yonhap, Jennie recorded a track called Someone to Hold for Steps, her first contribution to an animated film soundtrack. Jisoo, on the other hand, co-wrote an original song titled Sun Showers for The Angry Birds Movie 3, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Jennie's song accompanies an emotional scene in Steps, an animated retelling of Cinderella from the stepsisters' point of view. The singer expressed her enjoyment of working on her first animated film soundtrack and her appreciation for the characters' warmth and personalities. In fact, her song has been nominated for the Song – Animated Film category at the 2026 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

Steps is set to premiere on November 20, featuring Ali Wong, Stephanie Hsu, and Amanda Seyfried in its voice cast. Meanwhile, Jisoo's Sun Showers can be heard in the latest trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3. The artwork for the song features Shumon, a small dustball character that Jisoo originally sketched during her middle school years.

"With 'Sun Showers,' I aimed to capture the movie's playful and bright energy through a fun, feel-good song that makes people want to smile and dance along," Jisoo told The Hollywood Reporter. The film follows Red, the franchise's protagonist, as he deals with fatherhood while trying to save the world. Paramount Pictures plans to release The Angry Birds Movie 3 on December 23, though it is currently listed for a December 31 local release in Malaysian cinemas through TGV Cinemas.
