At least eight killed, 20 injured in bus-dumper collision on Hazara Motorway

An incident occurred on the Hazara Motorway near Havelian Interchange in Abbottabad, leaving at least eight individuals dead and 20 others injured, as reported by Aaj News. Rescue 1122, the emergency response service, initially announced three fatalities and 16 injured passengers.

The bus, operated by Faisal Movers and en route from Gilgit to Rawalpindi, met with a tragic accident when one of its tires burst. Rescue teams, consisting of seven ambulances and a rescue vehicle, swiftly responded to the scene. They transported the injured to local hospitals for medical care. The deceased were predominantly from Gilgit, with the initial report indicating two women and a man as victims.

The deputy commissioner of Abbottabad stated that the injured were transferred to the Ayub Teaching Hospital, Type-D Hospital Havelian, and the District Headquarters Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. To ensure immediate medical assistance for the injured, emergency declarations were made at Benazir Shaheed Hospital and Ayub Medical Complex.

Additional Assistant Commissioner Havelian Muhammad Usama arrived at the accident site early in the morning, as instructed by the deputy commissioner, and subsequently oversaw the arrangements at Ayub Teaching Hospital. Further information about the identities of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the accident is still under investigation.
