Two visually impaired individuals who were abducted by armed men along the Riyom Local Government Area in Plateau State have been freed. The victims were kidnapped on Monday night as they were returning to Jos. Their captors had demanded a ransom of N50 million. Shindol Aaron, the chairman of Plateau State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), confirmed their release during a phone interview.

According to him, the victims regained their freedom on Wednesday night. He revealed that they were released between 9 pm and 10 pm after being held captive by their abductors. However, Aaron also stated that the offenders had been apprehended by security personnel. The victims were among nine people traveling in a vehicle to attend a training program in Benue State, but they turned back around Akwaga upon learning that the program had been rescheduled. Seven other passengers of the vehicle reportedly managed to escape during the attack.
