Warriors' Steve Kerr on Democrats' rout: ‘I was looking forward to that $5,000 check'

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made a humorous comment at a post-practice news conference following his team's win in their NBA home season opener against the Memphis Grizzlies. Kerr, a known Democrat, was surprised that President Donald Trump had promised to give every American adult $5,000 if Republicans kept control of Congress.

Expressing his disappointment, Kerr said he had already spent the money, leaving him to figure out what to do next. As a longtime Democrat, Kerr endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election and serves on the advisory board of the American Dream Institute, which aims to help Democrats connect with younger voters.

Kerr and Warriors owner Joe Lacob have differing political views, but maintain a cordial relationship and share the same goals for the team and its players.
