Portable charging is essential for mountaineering photography, and this new flashlight-boasting, lightweight power bank might be my new favorite
I haven't tested the INIU Outdoor Rugged 20000, but as someone who spends a lot of time in the mountains with their camera, this looks to be a promising piece of kit
For mountaineering photographers, a reliable power bank is an essential tool. These devices are crucial when shooting in remote locations where access to charging stations is limited. Mirrorless cameras, commonly used by photographers today, often have limited battery life, making a power bank a necessity. Carrying multiple spare batteries is common, but relying on them can be risky, especially during long hikes.
This is why many photographers, like the reporter, never head out without their power bank. It ensures they can capture all the perfect shots, even in challenging weather conditions.
The new INIU Outdoor Rugged 20000 power bank caught the reporter's attention. Despite never having used an INIU product before, the device's impressive specifications made it stand out. With a 20,000mAh charge capacity and a maximum power output of 65W, it promises to recharge a Sony NP-FZ100 battery five times. While many other 20,000mAh power banks could achieve this, the INIU's lightweight design, weather-sealed construction, and built-in flashlight make it particularly appealing for mountaineering photographers.
Weighing only 12.5oz (353.2g) and measuring 4.3 x 2.9 x 1.1in (10.8 x 7.3 x 2.8cm), it's compact and durable, capable of withstanding harsh conditions up to one meter underwater for 30 minutes.
Although the reporter currently trusts their Anker 20,000mAh power bank, the INIU Outdoor Rugged 20000's unique features make it an option worth considering. Whether for professional use or casual photography, this power bank offers a balance of convenience, durability, and functionality. For those in the market for a new power bank, the INIU Outdoor Rugged 20000, priced at $76.99 / £76.99 / €69.94 on the INIU website, might be a worthy investment.
