Bekas Adun Machap Jaya itu berkata beliau tetap bersama PKR walaupun tidak dicalonkan pada PRN 2021 dan berdepan tekanan supaya meninggalkan parti.

Pernah disisih, digantung tugas, Ginie mahu bangkit semula

Ginie Lim returned to contest in Machap Jaya, a constituency she once represented as an Adun from 2018 to 2021. Five years after being ousted as a PKR candidate in Machap Jaya, Lim returned to fight for the seat and characterized her candidacy as a fresh start in her political career after going through various internal party turmoil, pressure to leave PKR, and disciplinary action.

Lim insisted that she remained loyal to PKR, even while enduring significant pressure to leave the party, as well as accusations of joining other parties, which never crossed her mind. For Lim, politics tests our loyalty, steadfastness, and commitment to the struggles and principles we uphold, she told FMT. Her relationship with PKR leadership has improved now, as evidenced by her appointment as the PKR Women's Section chief.

She acknowledged that she had faced punishment and allegations against her, but viewed those experiences as part of the bitter politics. Lim revealed that her relationship with PKR leadership became strained in 2019 when she and another Adun, Muhamad Jailani Khamis, failed to attend the PKR Melaka chief election when it was being determined.

The nomination failed to pass with only 12 votes in favor against 13 votes against, leading PKR President Anwar Ibrahim to condemn their absence as unacceptable. The subsequent Sheraton Step in 2020, which caused the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government to collapse, saw PKR take action against several leaders linked to Azmin Ali, who later joined Bersatu.

Lim was among three leaders who received warnings from the party, though she denied any connection with Azmin's affair. She then did not get nominated to retain the Machap Jaya seat during the 2021 PRN, after winning it in 2018. Before her victory, Lim had failed in her attempts in 2008 and 2013 elections. Without Lim as a candidate, Barisan Nasional (BN) successfully reclaimed the Machap Jaya seat, led by Ngwe Hee Sem in PRN 2021.

In 2024, Lim faced disciplinary action again when barred from performing duties as the Alor Gajah PKR Branch chief for a year, following a charge of violating party regulations. Despite no longer holding any parliamentary seat for five years, Lim said her connection with Machap Jaya constituents never ended. She stated that she received numerous messages of support and encouragement since being announced as a candidate.

"I continue to maintain my connections with the Machap Jaya people through various channels, whether through the NGO or the Alor Gajah Member of Parliament's Centre, Adly Zahari," Lim told FMT. She believes that the people of Machap Jaya still remember the friendly and cooperative relationship they forged during her time as their Adun.

Lim will face three-way contestation in Machap Jaya, challenging Ngwe and Prasanth Kumar from Bersatu.
