Pearl Jam Still Looking For Drummer

The American rock band Pearl Jam is still searching for a permanent drummer. Matt Cameron, who played with the band for 27 years until July 2025, recently departed. Abe Laboriel Jr., a seasoned session musician and member of Paul McCartney's touring band, filled in for Cameron during Pearl Jam's performances at the Eddie Vedder Ohana Festival in September.
Pearl Jam's bassist, Jeff Ament, revealed in a recent interview that the band is currently auditioning drummers, but they are not in a rush to make a decision. Ament mentioned that Laboriel was "such an incredible drummer," but the band still has plans for the future. Ament, who is 63 years old, expressed his desire to continue playing shows, but he feels a growing urgency to do so while he is still in good physical condition.
He acknowledged that Matt Cameron's departure was particularly difficult, especially after the tragic passing of lead vocalist Chris Cornell. Ament expressed his admiration for Cameron and his excitement for Cameron's future endeavors.
