Newport to host men's professional tennis in 2027

The Newport Tennis Centre will host Wales' top men's professional tennis tournament in January 2027, according to a recent announcement. Scheduled from January 24-31, the M25 event will feature international players ranked between 200 and 400 globally. Esteemed Welsh players such as James Story, Finn Murrgett, and Viktor Frydrych may participate in this esteemed competition, which is one of the highest levels of play within Wales.

Upon securing victory in both singles and doubles categories, players will earn a $25,000 (£18,500) prize fund and ranking points, facilitating their journey on the professional tennis circuit. This announcement follows the triumph of the women's W100 tournament, which is set to return to Wrexham for a third year in October 2027.

Mark Lewis, Tennis Wales' competition and events manager, expressed his delight at bringing the Lexus British Pro Series Newport M25 to South Wales. He emphasized that hosting a tournament of this caliber offers Welsh players a unique opportunity to compete on home turf while inspiring future generations of players and fans. For real-time scores, results, and order of play, tennis enthusiasts can receive updates directly to their mobile devices.
