Liam Neeson is only now finding out about Greta Gerwig's Narnia movie
Ahead of the release of Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew , Liam Neeson revealed that he wasn't even aware of the movie.
Liam Neeson, who portrayed Aslan in three Chronicles of Narnia films, is just discovering that Greta Gerwig is set to star in a new adaptation of C.S. Lewis' The Magician's Nephew. "I’m sorry, this is news to me," Neeson told ScreenRant's Liam Crowley. The new film, based on the sixth book of Lewis' seven-part series, is slated to release in theaters on February 12 before moving to Netflix on April 2.
Neeson, who voiced Aslan in The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, was taken aback when he first heard about Meryl Streep voicing the titular character. "Meryl is playing Jesus Christ?" Neeson asked. "Well, if you’re going to make Christ a lady, nobody better than Meryl." Gerwig revealed that Bowie inspired Aslan's updated look and outlined specific criteria for the voice actor, ultimately settling on Streep, whom Neeson later endorsed.
