Kano seizes 5,964 bottles of expired soft drinks in Singer Market

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has seized 5,964 bottles of expired soft drinks from Singer Market in Kano. This action came after a report was received regarding a trader who had stockpiled a large quantity of soft drinks with expired dates. The KCPC's Enforcement and Removal of Substandard Products Director, Alhaji Auwalu A. Muhammad, stated that the agency is upholding its responsibilities as per the law.

He assured residents that the council will not hesitate to confiscate expired products or tampered packaging information. The KCPC's Executive Secretary, Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, announced that the council will continue its enforcement operations across various markets, business outlets, and supermarkets in the state. He warned against any harassment or intimidation of its personnel and urged traders to cooperate by identifying and removing expired or damaged products voluntarily.

The council appreciated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's ongoing support for the council's work. The KCPC remains committed to market surveillance and the elimination of expired and substandard products throughout Kano State, ensuring residents' rights and interests are protected.
