Iran’s chief negotiator says Americans voted ‘no to war’

Iran's chief negotiator informed the public that Americans expressed "NO TO WAR" following a significant Republican Party loss in the midterm elections. The parliament speaker, Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, conveyed this message on X, warning that if the US government disregarded its public will to serve international interests, it would face harsh consequences.

Despite acknowledging that the war and resulting gasoline price surge contributed to the Republican defeat, President Donald Trump refused to regret launching a joint attack with Israel on Iran in February. He attributed a portion of the midterm results to the conflict and stated that the American public was not willing to endure the short-term consequences of increased gasoline prices.

In recent weeks, Trump has threatened renewed warfare with the US and Israel should an agreement to cease the conflict with Iran not be achieved. Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has been absent since a reported grave injury during the initial airstrike, dismissed the possibility of a shift in US policy, asserting that any change would be met with widespread opposition.

On Wednesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that four oil tankers experienced fires after colliding with naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz; however, BBC Verify could not corroborate this claim.
