Instagram's Edits Video Editor is Now Available on Mac

Instagram has recently made its video editing application, Edits, available for the Mac operating system. This upgrade is designed for users working on larger projects that benefit from a larger screen and the precision of a mouse and keyboard. The Mac version of Edits incorporates Instagram's licensed and royalty-free audio resources, sound effects, and unlimited automatic captions.

The app offers a comprehensive multi-track timeline, keyframes for creating dynamic transitions, and precise audio waveforms enabling accurate cuts. Users can import LUTs or font files and take advantage of Model Context Protocol, which allows AI agents to utilize the app. The editing process, according to the Edits team, is streamlined with features like splitting, cutting, and trimming.

Created videos can be directly published to Instagram or downloaded for sharing on other platforms. The app provides multiple aspect ratios, both horizontal and vertical, and offers 4K watermark-free export. Edits for Mac is accessible for download from the Instagram website.
