Texas football faces a crucial SEC matchup against No. 18 Missouri, as the team confronts a series of injuries that have impacted their roster. Running back Hollywood Smothers, who is officially ruled out for the game, is not the only notable absence. Wide receiver Cam Coleman and edge rusher Colin Simmons have also had to sit out due to separate injuries.
Despite these setbacks, Texas has made a strong showing in the 2026 College Football Playoff rankings, landing at No. 7 overall, ahead of unbeaten UCLA, BYU, and Notre Dame. Both Texas and Missouri are currently 6-2, but a loss could significantly impact their pursuit of the postseason and conference championship. Texas aims to build on its recent momentum from a victory against Ole Miss and carry that confidence into the high-stakes game against Missouri.
