Doha Investment boosts stake in Lesha Qatar Equity Fund

Lesha Bank revealed on Thursday that Doha Investment has increased its stake in the Lesha Qatar Equity Fund. Doha Investment serves as Qatar's investment platform, aimed at fostering the nation's economic expansion. The bank manages QIA's collection of domestic assets. According to a Lesha Bank statement, this investment comes on the heels of QIA's initial contribution to the Fund in early August.

The bank noted that two consecutive investments within a brief span indicate confidence in the Fund's objectives and Lesha Bank's investment strategy. The Lesha Qatar Equity Fund is a Sharia-compliant, actively managed equity fund that provides investors with exposure to Qatar's long-term economic growth and capital markets. The Fund aims to potentially achieve long-term capital growth and income through investments in a diversified portfolio of Sharia-compliant Qatari equities.

The bank's statement highlighted that this commitment supports Doha Investment's long-term goals of enhancing market liquidity, broadening institutional involvement, and advancing Qatar's capital markets and asset management industry. The statement also emphasized that the investment deepens institutional participation in QSE-listed companies and fosters the creation of a wider, more diversified investor base in Qatar.

Group CEO of Lesha Bank, Mohammed Ismail Al Emadi, expressed delight at Doha Investment's continued backing of the Lesha Qatar Equity Fund. As a proud local Qatari investment institution, he stressed that the bank is committed to attracting investments into the domestic equity market and contributing to its long-term strength. He concluded by stating that this additional allocation validates their commitment and that they are among four asset managers appointed under the Active Asset Management Initiative, with the distinction of being the only local asset manager among them.
