Dianna Russini comeback timeline: What we know from Mike Vrabel controversy to NFL media return

Dianna Russini's return to the NFL media world is a topic of interest following the Mike Vrabel controversy. Vrabel, who is married, has been linked romantically to Russini, a fellow married NFL reporter, after photos surfaced of the two spending time together over several years. Despite vowing to keep the story behind closed doors, it emerged that Russini had resigned from The Athletic in April 2026.

The Athletic confirmed Russini's resignation in a statement, defending her actions and clarifying that the photos were taken in public with a group of six people, not indicative of a relationship. The investigation by The Athletic found that the relationship violated the outlet's standards, even if romantic or not. Russini's return plans became clearer in November 2026, when it was reported that she was set to launch her own show within the week, though the specific platform remained unspecified.
