Barcelona-based startup Kabilio has secured €10 million in funding to roll out its AI accounting agent, as its client base approaches 500 firms. Led by Picus Capital and Visionaries, the investment was also spearheaded by Spain’s CDTI. Kabilio's platform utilizes generative AI to assist accounting advisors and their clients in modernizing collaboration.
Co-founded by Jose Ojeda and Álex Valls, Kabilio began with pre-accounting, collecting and preparing documents and data for bookkeeping, a traditionally manual task. The AI reads invoices, suggests how to book them, matches bank transactions, prepares reconciliation, and flags items requiring professional attention. By structuring data with the firm's rules, Kabilio enables an AI agent to take over workflows under the accountant's control.
This funding will transition Kabilio from automating isolated tasks to providing a full-fledged AI agent for complete workflows. The AI agent can retrieve invoices and statements, match and reconcile bank transactions, validate entries, and follow up on missing paperwork. It communicates directly with clients via email and WhatsApp to request additional information.
Accountants provide instructions in plain language, determining the agent's level of autonomy per client. Kabilio has already partnered with Fiscalidad Inteligente and Alemany Assessors. In a later phase, the AI agent will extend its services to clients, issuing invoices, chasing late payments, and answering tax and accounting questions within seconds.
Kabilio aims to work with over 500 firms by the end of 2026, currently employing 80 people, with more than half dedicated to product and engineering.
