Ubisoft reportedly seeking to acquire Arkane Lyon from Xbox

Arkane may be on the verge of being acquired by Ubisoft, according to reports. However, the studio's own management could also potentially take over. Ubisoft made a bid for Arkane, which is owned by Microsoft, as they seek to purchase the company. Bloomberg sources claim that two other gaming companies have also expressed interest in buying Arkane.

Xbox is considering the option of selling the studio to its own management. Despite this, as of now, it remains unclear which company will make a move. If a deal is reached, it could allow Arkane to complete their highly anticipated Blade game, which is expected to launch within the next couple of years. Xbox has stated that they are exploring their options prior to a December deadline, but no further comments have been made.

Microsoft, due to French labor laws, is currently in the process of exploring potential buyers for Arkane and other studios within their company. The final purchase deadline is set for December 13th, leaving about a month and a half for deals to be finalised. Arkane's sale is part of a broader set of cuts, sales, and closures being implemented by Microsoft.

In July, several studios like Double Fine, Undead Labs, and Compulsion were put under new ownership, while Ninja Theory is reportedly shutting down.
