Region semifinal pairings finalized for Watertown, Aberdeen area teams

Region semifinal matchups have been determined for volleyball tournaments in the Watertown and Aberdeen areas. Four teams from each Class A and B region will vie for spots in the upcoming SoDak 16 state qualifiers. Region play commenced on Monday and Tuesday, with semifinals slated for Thursday and the victorious teams advancing to the SoDak 16 matches on Tuesday, November 10.

The victors of SoDak 16 will secure their place in the state tournament, scheduled for November 19-21 at Sioux Falls. Below is a summary of the progress made thus far in the region play.

Region 1A

1. Groton Area, Britton-Hecla, and Webster Area secured quarterfinal wins on Tuesday.

- Groton Area defeated Sisseton 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, and 25-17).

- Britton-Hecla overcame Redfield 3-1 (25-13, 25-17, 22-25, and 25-16).

- Webster Area beat Milbank 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, and 25-20).

2. Semifinal games on Thursday will see Webster Area (13-11) face top-seeded Aberdeen Roncalli (21-5) and Britton-Hecla (17-6) contest Groton Area (19-13).

Region 2A

1. Second-seeded Hamlin, third-seeded Sioux Valley, and fourth-seeded Elkton-Lake Benton all claimed quarterfinal victories on Tuesday.
