PowerBall: History made again as nine players become millionaires in one night
These extraordinary wins were made possible through the cascading mechanism.
On last Friday, history was made once more as nine players became millionaires in a single night. The jackpot reached over R2.8 million each, with winners scattered throughout South Africa - from Grahamstown to Mthatha, George to Alberton. Tickets were purchased at various retailers including Get Lucky Shop in Grahamstown, Bingo Royale in Mthatha, PnP Hazelpark, among others.
In September, the Powerball Xtra game produced 15 millionaires, each taking home more than R1.3 million from the R21 million jackpot. The winning numbers for that draw were PowerBall: 7, 9, 21, 27, 30. Bonus ball: 8. The Powerball XTRA numbers were 6, 24, 29, 36, 37. Bonus Ball: 2.
For winners, there are multiple ways to claim their prize. If the winnings are up to R10 000, they can collect immediately at their approved participating retail store. For amounts up to R249 999, online claims are available, processed within 72 working hours via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from Sizekhaya iLottery Wallet or direct deposit into a bank account through online banking channels. Sizekhaya offices also accept claims made online or at stores, with payments issued electronically and processed within 72 hours.
Players can verify the winning numbers on the National Lottery website.
