Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim inspires QF students

In Doha, Qatar, Tariq Bin Ziad School, a component of Qatar Foundation's Pre-University Education, hosted Olympic gold medalist Mutaz Barshim for an engaging session with middle school students. During the interactive session, Barshim recounted significant moments from his athletic career and his accomplishments on the world stage.

He also took time to answer the students' inquiries and shared personal anecdotes and lessons he had gleaned from his journey thus far. Barshim underscored the significance of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork in attaining one's objectives, as well as the value of sports in building camaraderie, mutual respect, and good sportsmanship.

The visit illuminated the educational and moral lessons drawn from Barshim's journey, which are elaborated upon in the illustrated children's book Winning Beyond Gold. This book, published by Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, delves into the essence of triumphing beyond personal achievements, emphasizing the virtues of friendship and sportsmanship, inspired by Barshim's historic gold medal shared in the high jump event at the Tokyo Olympics.

The meeting concluded with a book-signing ceremony, underscoring Qatar Foundation's dedication to offering educational experiences outside the conventional classroom setting. These experiences aim to bolster students' personal growth, help them uncover their abilities, and motivate them to pursue their ambitions.
