Newmont Gets Communications Excellence, Leadership Awards

Newmont Corporation was honored with three prestigious awards at the National Public Relations and Communications Excellence Awards, organized by the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana. These accolades recognized the remarkable impact of the company's communications efforts in 2025, a pivotal year marked by significant business transformations and strengthened stakeholder relationships.

The Communications team at Newmont was awarded PR Organisation of the Year in the Extractive Sector category, Corporate Communications of the Year, and Digital and Social Media Communications Campaign of the Year. This is the first time an extractive company has received all three recognitions in a single year's awards. The company's comprehensive communication strategy played a crucial role in navigating the company through major changes, including the divestiture of the Akyem Mine, organizational restructuring, integration of business units, and the launch of new mines.

Abigail Naa Karley Clegg, a Communications Specialist at Newmont, also earned the individual award for Internal Communicator of the Year. Her work in employee engagement, change communications, digital innovation, and safety and wellbeing initiatives throughout 2025 was instrumental in keeping both employees aligned and external stakeholders engaged during this period of change.

Abigail joined Newmont in 2019 and has been driving several storytelling campaigns, especially on social media, while enhancing the effectiveness of internal communications.

These recognitions highlight the integral role that strategic communication plays in driving business success. The awards not only celebrate Newmont's outstanding communication practices but also affirm the significant influence of effective communication on organizational transformation and stakeholder trust.
