Menang di Michigan, El-Sayed orang Islam pertama jadi senator AS
Wakil Demokrat itu bertanding di kerusi yang dikosongkan oleh Senator Gary Peters yang akan bersara.
Democrat candidate Abdul El-Sayed, a Muslim, has become the first Muslim elected to the United States Senate after defeating his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, in Michigan's recent election, according to Anadolu Agency. El-Sayed, who is running as a Democrat to fill a seat vacated by Senator Gary Peters, who is retiring, secured a historic victory that can help the Democratic Party retain a crucial seat, as reported by the U.S. media.
This win also comes in a state that Trump narrowly won in the 2024 presidential election. El-Sayed will be the first Muslim to serve in the Senate when the new Congress convenes in January.
