I’m so honoured, El-Sayed celebrates historic US Senate victory

DETROIT: Democrat Abdul El-Sayed emerged victorious in Tuesday's US Senate race in Michigan, defeating former Republican politician Mike Rogers. If confirmed, El-Sayed will become the first Muslim to be elected to the upper chamber of Congress. In his victory speech at his Detroit headquarters, El-Sayed expressed his pride and honor at the prospect of representing the people of Michigan.

Despite a last-minute setback, El-Sayed secured a win, which will allow Democrats to regain control of the Senate. El-Sayed's campaign focused on addressing the pressing healthcare issues faced by voters, promising universal healthcare and advocating for an end to the profit-driven medical system. He also pledged to "get money out of politics" and tackle the economic hardships that have led to widespread dissatisfaction with the current political establishment.

El-Sayed's success marks a significant achievement for the Democratic party, making him the first Democratic physician to serve in the Senate since 1969.
